An insidious alter ego lurks inside Jean Grey. A mild mannered mutant, gifted with the powers of telepathy and telekinesis, Jean’s story of love, bravery, adventure and death leads inexorably and inevitably to this moment in time.
Ghim Ong's dramatic 1/8 scale pewter sculpture captures the Dark Phoenix as it manifests itself in Jean. Arising from flames spreading into distinctive wings, she embraces the god-like powers the Phoenix Force entity bestows.
Starting out as a graphic designer, Ghim’s strong interest in 3D sculpting led to a career at Comicave Studios, the renowned Singapore-based producer of high end collectibles, where he worked on styling and sculpting Marvel, DC and Disney properties.
