Here we have a Steiff ‘Little Drummer Boy’ Teddy Bear – yes he plays the popular Christmas song called ‘Carol of the Drum’ which was written by American composer Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941. It was recorded in 1951 by the Austrian Trapp Family – of course the song was so popular that it was covered by Frank Sinatra, Ringo Starr, Boney M and even as a duet by the unusual pairing of Bring Crosby and David Bowie.To make him play this famous song all you have to do is turn the famous Steiff key which is attached on his back.
Steiff have even embroidered notes from the song on one of his paws.
He is made from the finest mohair in a light brown colour with cream on the middle of his face on which Steiff have handstitched a marvellous brown mouth and nose.
To finish off his face Steiff have attached shiny black eyes.
He is 5-way jointed so you can move his head, arms and legs.
Little Drummer Boy is dressed in a handsome double breasted buttoned jacket with smart collar and cuffs and shiny buttons.
He has his drum attached around his neck with a bright red lead and the drum is made to match in smart red and white.
His paw pads are made from light cream felt and to keep him warm he is wearing a cute brown hat which is placed between his famous Steiff ears – on one is the Steiff button and label.
