Model: China

  • Price:

    £65.00

When Her Majesty the Queen of England was crowned in 1953, the entrance to Westminster Abbey was guarded by ten fantastical creatures in the form of heraldic statues that were 6ft high and weighed 50 stone each!

Each beast supports a sheild bearing a badge or arms of a family associated with the ancestory of Queen Elizabeth II. After the coronation, they were moved to the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec.

Charlie Bears have designed a stunning series to commemorate this and it's called The Queen's Beast Series.

China is a Numbered Limited Edition of 2000.

China represents the Black Bull of Clarence, which was a symbol of power and might and is associated with the rise of the House of York during the 15th Century.

Bulls may look fearsome, but China is a softy at heart, as he is made from a lovely soft jet black fur and has dark eyes and flared nostrils. He has light coloured hooves, curved horns and a long tail, with a fluffy tuft on the end. He wears an antique effect key pendant, with a heart on the top.

Measures approximately 47cm / 19 inches.  This is number 237
